Then, during the 4 day Ocala show, Ygritte was Best of Opposite one day and then on Saturday and Sunday, handled by 8 year old Emily Cloudman, was Select for two 4 point majors!  What an awesome team they are!  Getting lots of practice for our upcoming Regional Specialty on December 12th!
Emily & Ygritte!  Just look at that smile!!!

AND....we have a  NEW CHAMPION in the family!  Introducing CH Hope Springs Fearless Liberty by Kengali, "LIBBY", proudly owned by Annie Johnson and shown by Sweetie Kay.  Libby won back to back 4 point majors this weekend, finishing easily in 5 weekends of showing!  Libby is out of our girl, Mbali, and sire is Skipper, CH Westwood Captain in Command!

IABCA Champs!

Our new International Champions!  Both Arya and Ygritte earned their International Champion titles on November 2nd!  Ygritte also won 3 Best Bred by Exhibitor awards and 2 Group 1 in regular classes and 3 Group 1s, in Bred by Exhibitor!

Crappy picture...but I did good, Mom!

WINNERS!

While I was up in NY, Arya had a GREAT weekend here at home showing in Plant City with Sharon Turner!  She was Best of Winners on both days AND Best of Breed on Sunday!  So proud of my baby girl - couldn't be happier!

Stars are Born!

We wrapped up the shoot with Summer and Legend's puppies on the beach today - what a great time they had!  The afternoon started out sunny, but the clouds began to roll in, along with a brisk breeze.  Still our little stars were great troopers and entertained us all!  The photo crew was awesome and were totally taken with the wee wuns, snuggling them and keeping them toasty warm between shots.  After the beach, we headed back to the house where we met the lucky families getting these little darlins and another couple of hours of filming and everyone was warm, happy and ready for a good night's sleep!  Watch for this episode of "TOO CUTE" on Animal Planet sometime in January!

LONG ISLAND - October 2014

Our fall trip to NY started off with a bang!  A great day for Khaleesi, Jethro and Ygritte playing on the beach in Montauk. More adventures to come this trip!

She's OFFICIAL!

This time, for sure!  Ygritte is our NEW Champion!  She finished in style on September 21st at the West Volusia Kennel Club show here in Deland.   As the newest member of the WVKC, I was especially proud to have this happen at my own club's show!    CH KENGALI'S KISSED BY FIRE!  "YGRITTE"

Friday evening was highlited by the Club's annual B Puppy Match and I'm thrilled to say our little Ella won Best of Breed and then Hound Group 1!

Ella's loot from the Puppy Match!  One tired puppy, too!

Tegan!!!

At barely 6 months old, Tegan took Atlanta by storm!  Her first two days in the show ring as she learned "the ropes", she was Reserve Winners, both days being 4 point majors!  Then, the third day she was Winners, herself, earning her first points - a 4 point major!  Sharon and I are thrilled with her performance and have great expectations for her continued success!

Mhaya in Maryland!

July 5, 2014 - We are pleased to announce our third New Champion of the year!  Introducing CH Kengali's Maeoresa Mutambo, "MHAYA"!  Mhaya is a daughter of Tori and Jethro and is owned and loved by Annie Johnson.  We're sure Mhaya has many more adventures ahead of her!

The Next Generation!

At the International shows this weekend, Legend was handled to his International Champion title by Emily Cloudman!  Emily is just 7 years old, but well on her way to becoming a top notch handler!!!  She and Legend did awesome and received the highest group awards possible!  4 Best of Breeds and 4 Group Ones!  Very proud of this young girl, as I know her parents are!!  THANKS, EMILY!!!
Photos by her mom, Meghan Cloudman

Sunshine Cluster - Tampa

We had a GREAT weekend in Tampa, June12-15!  Our young boy, Ronin, showed all four days and was Winners' Dog on Thursday, earning his first two points and was Reserve Winners on Saturday!  We won't mention his puppy antics the other two days!!   Ygritte and Jethro joined the fun on Saturday and Sunday.  On Saturday, Ygritte was Winners' Bitch and earned her third major!  She just needs a couple more points for her Championship!    Jethro won Best of Opposite both days, earning two more 4 point majors towards his Grand Championship.  He needs one more point now!

WHO SAYS RIDGEBACKS DON'T LIKE WATER?!

"Do ridgebacks like water?"  We get asked this question all the time by folks hoping their pups will enjoy water sports.  While ridgebacks are not known to be water dogs...that's another chapter in the book our dogs haven't read!  I find if I go in the water, my dogs will follow!  We took Ygritte, Katniss, Quilla and Ella to their first beach trip here and do you think they had a good time?   I believe the pictures will tell the story!

California Chrome Wasn't the Only Winner This Weekend!!

Best of Breed for Jethro on May 4th in Watkinsville, GA!!!  He was Select dog on Saturday and is now in the homestretch for earning his Grand Champion title.  Jethro's son, Ronin, who is just starting out, was Reserve Winners both days, too. Huge thanks to Arvind deBraganca for showing them with such great enthusiasm, to Judge James Frederickson and to Auntie Suzanne Paskins for the pictures!!

Here is Ronin...almost standing as he should!  This is a pup who is SO full of himself!  He'll "get it" soon.  Really!  He will!

Butterfly Love

As you've probably figured out already, I really enjoy taking pictures of the gang here....and sometimes......out of the blue....a "MOMENT" happens!!  This was one of those moments - Katniss was having a great time trying to figure out what these "floaty" things were in the air and was utterly fascinated by them.  I was thrilled to find I had captured this moment!

FIELD OF SUNSHINE!

Spring comes in with A BLAST here in central Florida!  Thanks to my friend, Megan Cloudman, for taking some of these pictures and showing me this awesome field of wildflowers!

GEORGIA ON MY MIND!!!

April 10 thru 13 we traveled up to Perry, GA for the annual Peach Blossom Cluster held at the Fairgrounds.  As always - we had an awesome time meeting up with old friends and making some new ones!  Legend finished his Grand Championship on Thursday, which was the highlight of our trip!  Arya, Ygritte, and Ronin all showed well, but no points for them this time around!  On Saturday I took Legend and the girls to the sheep herding area to test their herding instinct ability and am happy to say they all passed!  Saturday nite a bunch of us Ridgebackers all got together for a picnic supper and story telling gathering, followed by the Dogwood Festival's Hot Air Balloon celebration.  Oh, MY!  It was something to see all those gorgeous balloons lit up in the night sky with reflections in the pond!  The competition this weekend was fierce, the camaraderie was awesome, the good food to die for... and win or lose....this is a weekend event to enjoy every year!

Yay for Ygritte!

We had a fantastic day today, April 6th, in Elkton!  Our youngster, Ygritte, won Best of Breed from the classes, beating several nice specials! Huge thanks to Judge Dana Cline for awarding her this win and all the kind things he had to say about her!

The picture below is from her win in February in Lakeland.  Thank you, Judge Gary Doerge for this award!!

March Madness - Dog Show Style!

Sunday, March 9th dawned bright and chilly up in the great state of Tennessee...and it turned out to be a stellar day with Kahara finishing his championship with a NICE four point major at the Franklin RRCUS supported show.  Thanks to Judge Terry Stacey for awarding this win!   Very proud of our young boy!  Now he and his dad and his two buddies are off on another adventure - moving from NY to North Carolina and life on the farm.  I'm sure there will be many adventures ahead!

I also dragged my poor Strider-mon out of retirement and showed him as a Veteran.  He does not enjoy showing any more now than he did when he was a youngster...but he's a darn good sport!  He was the only dog entered in regular Veteran Classes, so winning Best Veteran was a given!  That's okay!  We had great fun and he did his best for me on Saturday and his Junior Handler he'd just met on Sunday.  It's so hard to believe the old man will be 9 years old on April 7th - not a gray hair on his head!

SHOW DOG!

Legend has had an EXTRAORDINARY weekend!  Showing in Hattiesburg, MS, with Arvind DeBraganca bringing out the best in him, Legend comes home with 4 Best of Breed wins AND a Group 2 today!!!  ROCK STAR!!!!!  WAY TO GO, BOYS!!!

LEGENDARY ADVENTURE!

Legend is having an exciting year!  He's on a quest to earn his Grand Champion title and on February 8th, we headed up to New York City to compete in the 138th Westminster Kennel Club dog show!  It was quite an adventure for this country dog, visiting the big city....and learning all about snow and ice!!  We had a fantastic time catching up with friends, old and new.  Ridgebacks had one of the largest entries again this year - 42 competing for the coveted Best of Breed, and even tho we didn't win, Legend showed his heart out for me!  I was very proud of my big red boy!!  He also did a great job of being an ambassador for the breed, meeting and greeting all the people who came thru to see all the dogs.  Following are some pictures from our trip and below is his latest ad in The Ridgeback Register!

WINTER WONDERLAND!

2014 started off with a bang!  The winter show season is upon us and youngsters, Summer, Ygritte and Arya have a busy schedule ahead of them!  We're also looking forward to some great lure coursing events this winter, including the ASFA International Invitational which will be held here in FL this year, the last weekend in March.  This event is sponsored by our local club, Sunshine State Rhodesian Ridgeback Club and Greater Ocala Gainesville Lure Coursing Association and we're looking forward to some great competition.  Stay tuned for our continued adventures..we're sure to have some!
